BORDEAUX - Château Lafon-Rochet 2010 - Grand Cru Saint Estephe

Blend : Cabernet Sauvignon 67%, Merlot 20%, Petit Verdot 8%, Cabernet Franc 5%.
Dress : Dense black/ruby
Tasting notes : The Lafon-Rochet expresses aromas of black fruits. it displays sweet tannin, excellent purity, fresh fruit and a very primary, almost grapy style with lots of fruit and long finish with smooth tannins.

History : Ideally located between Cos d'Estournel and Lafite-Rothschild in the south, Lafon-Rochet can claim one of the most prestigious wine neighborhoods in the world.

The origin of this very old estate dates back to the middle of the 16th century. Lafon will retain more than two centuries Lafon-Rochet despite the revolution of 1789. They will lead even to the ultimate consecration of the 1855 classification. Lafon-Rochet then enters the club very closed Grands Crus Classés Médoc , only five of which are at Saint-Estèphe. This unique terroir seduced Guy Tesseron more than forty years ago, well known for the quality of his old cognacs. Judging the irrecoverable buildings, he will shave them to rebuild a new winery and, unique case in Bordeaux, a castle on the plans of a chartreuse of the seventeenth century.
Camped on a plateau in the shape of a rump, beaten by the northwest winds that dry the vineyards, the estate embraces 45 hectares in one piece, looking at Lafite-Rothschild and Cos d'Estournel, in the distance the Gironde. This is an exceptional terroir, complete Basil. The vines have deep roots anchored on a clay and gravelly soil.
