CHÂTEAU POUJEAUX 2012
Cru Bourgeois Exceptional
While continuing in continuity, Philippe Cuvelier and his son Matthieu infuse new energy and ambition to the property.
From the Middle Ages, Terre de Poujeaux is a dependent Lordship of Latour Saint-Mambert, future Château Latour ... During the 19th century, the estate produces its first wines and takes its real independence.Prosperity, successions and fragmentation punctuate the first half of the 20th until the Theil Family had the good idea to look into the property. Jean Theil, works on the reunification of the estate and its fame. In 2008, Philippe Cuvelier and his son Matthieu (already happy owners of Château Clos Fourtet, 1st Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion) take over the destiny of this beautiful Moulis in Médoc.
The vineyard of Château Poujeaux extends in a single piece north-east of Moulis, on the rumps of Grand-Poujeaux. Cabernets sauvignons and merlots carve out the lion's share of the estate's grape variety, with Petit-Verdots and Cabernets Francs representing only 10% of the vine.
Cabernet Sauvignon 52%, Merlot 39%, Petit Verdot 6%, Cabernet Franc 3%.
Tasting notes :
Dense ruby/purple color, nice cassis fruit, medium-bodied texture, soft tannins and a fleshy, nicely textured mouthfeel.
